Every morning I pray for God to use me in some way to be His hands and feet. To touch the lives of others and make a difference. I call them #jesusmoments
This morning in my WINGS prayer time I had one of the most profound experiences I have ever had. I felt the heavens open up and was really excited to see how God was going to use me today. I have been specifically praying for the past year for God to use me to combat human trafficking and be a place of safety for the victims, and then last week He used me to help rescue a girl from being violated in an airport bathroom. I heard her screams and cries for help. As I was walking towards the screaming I watched other people look up, and then continue to walk by without become aware of what was happening or choosing to ignore it. I heard her screams, and I had to do something.
This morning He used me to pick up trash on the beach. I lost count of the numerous items of garbage we picked up as we walked and played along the beach.
I don’t share either to brag or boast rather to humbly share that I have been on that beach every morning this week and did not “see” a single piece of trash. This morning I couldn’t unsee it, and had to do something. My eyes were opened to how he wanted to use me today.
I took part in rescuing someone last week, and today I picked up trash on the beach. I could feel deeply disappointed that all I did was pick up trash but somehow I feel equally grateful for the work I was doing because I was working for the Lord.
I still feel called to be hands and feet to end human trafficking, and if I want God to use me in the BIG things I have to be faithful in the LITTLE. I sometimes get so caught up in the day to day that I miss the stirrings on my heart. Which is why I started praying for Him to use me, I want my eyes WIDE open to the opportunities in front of me. I don’t want to be so distracted that I miss the pleas of a girl screaming for help or even walk pass a discarded piece of trash I could easily pick up and throw away.
I invite you to join me in asking God to open up yours eyes and ears to what He is calling you to do. When He puts something on your heart, don’t hesitate! Don’t second guess. A few months ago while traveling throught the airport I looked over and saw a mom completly overhwhelmed. She was traveling with two toddlers and a baby. I felt the stirring in my heart to offer her a hand, I almost didn’t take action because I didn’t want her to think I was some weirdo wanting to be near her kids. I went over anyway and offered my help. Without hesitation she handed me her baby, and teared up while she got her luggage situated and wrangled her other two kids. That single day God gave me two other moms to bless in the airport with offering a hand. All three were full of gratitude, because what mom hasn’t been overwhlemed at some point.
When you feel the stirring, take action immediatly and have trust that is what you are being called to do. A wise person once asked me if God answered ALL my prayers, would just MY life be changed or would the WHOLE WORLD be changed? That single question has challenged me to start praying outside of just my own comforts and goals. You never can tell how God will use you to answer someone elses prayers.
I would love to hear about how Jesus is using you to bless others, and what He is doing in your life.
